Empty containers is the procedure in which the sale of an item is charged separately from its packaging. A typical example of empty containers is the sale of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) with the option of returning empty bottles.

Suppose you work in a company that sells beverages and you want to sell a basket of beer.  In this situation, the case and the bottles of beer are considered to be empty containers.  See below for the actions needed in SOFT1 ERP to sell the case of beer (returnable packaging material).
