The specifications described below are indicative and do not take into consideration the special circumstances of an installation - especially in terms of the number of operators and their networking issues.

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> RDBMS - Database Server Software</span>

The RDBMS must be selected based on criteria relating to the bases themselves. The parameters considered for the selection of the RDBMS type should not include SOFT1 ERP.

SOFT1 equally recommends the two predominant RDBMS brands, without any feature of the applications and services favoring either option.

> ℹ️ 1. *The above notes with regard to the DataBase Server processor are limited to Intel/AMD systems because during the installation the DataBase Server is usually selected to identify with the Application Server. However, if you choose non-intel-based systems, they will be used exclusively for a Database Server, not for Application. Thus, the specifications of a system are exclusively defined by the RDBMS manufacturer and not by SOFT1.*
> ℹ️ 2. *The required database server memory is directly related to the size of the database, the active number of users and other characteristics of the installation.*

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> Client Connectivity Tools</span>

Client Connectivity Tools (by the RDBMS manufacturer) will be required in the following cases:

- For machines - clients operating additionally as application servers connected directly to the Database Server
- For machines in which the application runs in standalone mode

Client Connectivity Tools will not be required in clients' machines (usually remote) which do not operate (additionally) as Application Servers but communicate with an Application Server on a separate machine (possibly the same as the one with the DataBase Server)

> ℹ️ *The client tools of the database must be installed on the other computers as well, except server computers, in accordance with the database manufacturer's instructions. In the case of a remote terminal, it is not required to install the client tools of the database because the client-server application model will be used.*

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> Other requirements</span>

- Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or later version
- Crystal Report Runtime tools for printing forms or open reports that utilize designs that use this tool. Crystal Reports runtime tools are not included in the standard SOFT1 ERP installation but are available to download from SOFT1 ERP common support area.

---

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> Optional business applications & tools</span>

- Microsoft Office Word & Excel Applications (for exploiting the application's combination possibilities in relation to MS Office).
- E-mail application (for cooperation with the relevant application automation).
- Microsoft Script Engine in case you intend to perform customizations designed with Script Engines.
- Tax mechanisms: see the specific section on tax mechanisms.

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> Networks & Telecommunications </span>

An Internet connection is recommended in order to utilize SOFT1 Services.

#### ➡️<span style="color: #0747a6"> SQL Server Express Limitations</span>

Microsoft SQL Server Express is a powerful and reliable free data management system for small-scale SOFT1 ERP installations, with no more than 5 users (web users included too).
Here are some of the most important differences of the SQL Express compared to SQ Standard Edition:

| | <span style="color: #ffffff">**SQL Standard **</span> | <span style="color: #ffffff">**SQL Express**</span> |

> 📝 1. *SQL Express is limited to a 10 GB database. Splitting data over multiple DBs and then cross-link them by using certain applications will lead to more than 10 GB of data on the server. Be aware though, that your system's performance will be harmed severely if this cannot be achieved. If your data keep growing you are going to hit the 10GB limit resulting in the system's failure and possible data loss. To avoid this, you will need to upgrade your SQL Server with the latest version (e.g. SQL Server Standard Edition).*
> 📝 2. *SQL Express allows for lesser of 1 socket or 4 cores. This way, your system's computing power is not fully used and this may result in critical problems in case of adding more data or users to your database. On the other hand, SQL Server Standard allows for 4 sockets or 24 cores.*
> 📝 3. *SQL Express allows for using 1.4 GB of RAM (per instance). On the other hand, SQL Server Standard reaches 128 GB.*
