Forecasts are used for the cases that is necessary to update costs in inventory and/or to update value data in the General Ledger, in order to acquire the monthly results of the company, while there are pending documents.

## Configuration 

In inventory module, during document design, you must create the Series and Type of the document to be used for the creation of forecast documents and their reversal. 

The document type behavior must be either 402-Imports pre-costing, or 404-Exports pre-costing. The same Series shall be used both for forecasts and for their reversing. A Series for Sales forecasts and a Series for Purchase forecasts are required.

The transactions of the document type must only affect values (respectively to purchase / sale invoices).

## Operation 

Through Purchases / Sales - Batch processing, select job Forecasts.

In this job set the following: 

- To period: select the use period up to which there shall execution of search for outstanding documents (that have not been converted to document values).
- Series: set the Series of documents that will be taken into consideration during forecasts calculation and used for the creation of the forecast document.
- Forecasts: select "Yes" to create forecasts documents.
- Reversing: select "Yes" to create the forecasts reversing documents.
- Forecast series: select the document series with which the forecasts document will be created.
- Reversal series: select the document series through which the reversal document shall be created (the series selected is the same with the forecasts series).
- Comment: enter the forecasts/ reversal document comment.
- Use price: select the price to be used for the forecast, selecting either the cost price (requires prior cost price calculation), or the price of the delivery note / return note (if entered on the document), or the wholesale price of the item (as entered in the constant data of the item).

Running this job creates two documents of the same series, one with positive values(forecasts) dated on the last date of the <to> period and a document with negative values(reversal) dated on the first date of the next period. These documents shall contain all open-item lines of the original documents of the selected series.

 

## Examples

Item 10015 has an inventory balance of 50 pieces with a cost price of 250 €. Its image in the Stock ledger, up to the previous month is as follows:

Within the month, the company received a Delivery note from a supplier containing 5 pieces of the specific item. At the same time, it ships with a Dispatch Note, 1 piece to a customer. Running printout "Stock ledger" for the current month, updates the columns of Other imports, and Other exports with the quantities of the notes (purchase and sale).

The company executes purchase forecasts for the month, where it selects the use of the cost price.

At the same time job Purchases forecasts is run using the wholesale price.

Running the Purchases and Sales Forecasts created 2 Inventory documents dated on the last day of the month. In the document that refers to the purchase forecasts, the item is posted with a quantity of 5 and a price of 5, which is the cost price.

In the document that refers to the sales forecasts, the item is posted with a quantity of 1 and a price of 6, which is the wholesale price of the item. If during forecasts job execution, you have set "Reversing: Yes", then on the first date of the next month there shall be creation of 2 documents with the same values, but with negative sign.

 

In the Stock ledger the image will now be as follows:
